Florida Basketball: 3 keys for matchup against Arizona State Sun Devils
By Bryan Mauro
Saturday is a loaded day for college Hoops as it is the last full weekend before the Christmas break for most schools, and everyone is trying to get their final nonconference games before conference play begins. The Florida Gators are one of the teams with a huge nonconference game on Saturday against a team that is also trending up. Florida enters the game with a 9-0 record and a top-10 ranking.
Many probably don’t know that the Gators entered the game in the top 10 and were undefeated. They have not gotten much fanfare this year outside of Florida. It is strange, considering they are 9-0, have one of the best offenses in the country, and are trending toward a top 8 seed in the NCAA tournament. So why do the Gators not get the headlines? They are in the SEC, which was dominated by Kentucky and Alabama early on this year. The Gators have also had a scandal with their coach that has soured some individuals on them this year.
The bottom line is the Gators are a top-10 team, have a ton of depth, and play fantastic defense. The Gators have the toughest game of any of the top 10 teams today as they play a fantastic Arizona State Sun Devils team in the Holiday Hoopsgiving. The Gators will have to be at their best in this one because Arizona State is playing very good basketball, and the Sun Devils have been one of the more surprising teams this season, given how they looked in the preseason. If Florida can accomplish these three things, they will leave this game with a win.
