Conference season brings no shortage of solid matchups in the SEC and this Tuesday edition is another example. We’ll see another road test for defending champion Florida as they head to Oklahoma in an SEC game of immense important for both sides, both in this conference race and potentially for postseason purposes in the long run.
After considerable struggles this season, Florida (11-5) is fresh off their best week to date, winning a pair of games at home over ranked teams in Georgia and Tennessee. The Gators won by double figures in both contests and are looking more real on offense over the last month or so. Their long-range shooting is still an issue, but Todd Golden is hoping that everything is starting to come together.
Meanwhile at Oklahoma (11-5), Porter Moser is truly hoping that this is the time where things actually come together for his talented squad in Norman. The Sooners have had a few nice performances this season but have had some real stinkers on defense and didn’t look great this past week. Oklahoma dropped road games at Mississippi State and Texas A&M, shooting the ball extremely poorly against the Bulldogs less than a week ago.

Two teams heading in opposite directions matchup but there’s a clear favorite here if everything goes right. Even though Oklahoma is hosting this game, it’s impossible to ignore Florida’s talent if they play to their potential. That frontcourt is incredible and it can’t really be matched by what the Sooners put out there, as Davis and Wague have a lot on their hands on Tuesday night. A lot will depend on the shooting and Oklahoma’s ability to put those recent struggles behind them. The same can easily be said for the Gators, especially as both Fland and Lee try to put their own struggles in the rearview.
Despite being underdogs at home, can Oklahoma find a way to get themselves back on track and avert this recent skid against a really strong opponent. Do the Gators find their way to turn this into another easy win even in an SEC road test?
