It’s a busy time in Las Vegas with the Players Era Festival bringing tons of brilliant basketball out to Sin City. Among the most highly anticipated matchups of the entire event comes as ranked Gonzaga and Alabama teams face off in one of the late timeslots. Both of these teams could make serious runs this season and are jockeying to be one of the big winners from this tournament.

Very few complaints can be had about Gonzaga (5-0) after the way this team has begun the season. The Bulldogs own three double-digit wins over power conference programs, most prominently blowing out a then-ranked Creighton squad two weeks ago. There are some new faces in Spokane making great plays already for Mark Few’s squad in their final season in the WCC.

Across the court, Alabama (3-1) is the very definition of battle-tested even before the Players Era Festival begins. The Crimson Tide own impressive wins away from home against Illinois and St. John’s while their lone defeat was a tough contest against top-ranked Purdue. Alabama’s lineup hasn’t been perfectly healthy during these first four games but Nate Oats is hoping that they’re finally piecing everything together.

Two immensely impressive teams do battle in a game that’ll showcase some of the finest talent in Las Vegas for this massive tournament. The Crimson Tide have hung with top teams already this season and have an electric offense that can truly hang with any team. On the other hand, we can’t dismiss what we’ve seen from Gonzaga, even if Ike and company haven’t yet done it against an opponent quite like Alabama.

Which team truly has the upper hand in this battle on Monday night? Is Alabama in for another great shooting performance to carry them to another premiere win? Does Gonzaga’s strong frontcourt own the interior and get control of the game that way?
