A night of intense basketball ensues Tuesday in New York City during the Champions Classic. Four talented teams come to Madison Square Garden in search of glory and this matchup will certainly have plenty of fireworks between two of the most prolific programs in the recent history of this sport.
While Kansas (3-1) isn’t exactly playing at the level they want in recent years, Bill Self’s squad has significant talent once again. It’s all just about how the Jayhawks put things together, which didn’t happen a few weeks back with a tough road loss at North Carolina. Whether or not they can handle the other half of Tobacco Road, Kansas is looking to make a statement that they won’t be an afterthought in this year’s Big 12 race.
There are less worries at Duke (4-0) after this brilliant start to the season for the Blue Devils. After handling Texas in their season debut two weeks ago, Duke has made quick work of three straight mid-majors, averaging 103 points in those outings. Cameron Boozer looks like the real deal as Duke’s next star freshman and the talent level on this team is again off the charts.

The big story from the lineups is that Kansas will be without star freshman Darryn Peterson for the foreseeable future and we’ll have to see how that affects this rotation. Regardless of ranking or recent results, the Champions Classic always brings excitement and intensity in these matchups. Duke looks the part of a potential champion with their young talent but we can’t ignore Kansas and their capability either, especially with Bidunga’s work in the early part of the season.
Can Kansas take advantage of another major November opportunity to build their early resume and prove they can be a national contender? Do the Blue Devils coast to another win after brilliant work to this point in the young season?
