A lot of eyes will be on this Top 10 matchup early Saturday and there are many reasons why this is a game worth watching. Impressive talent will be on display as Kansas faces Iowa State in an important game both for the Big 12 race and their own fates. This game will have plenty of storylines and ramifications but who’ll get this important win?

In recent weeks Kansas (19-5) has just been humming along and own one of the nation’s most impressive 8-game winning streaks in recent memory. The Jayhawks beat Iowa State, BYU, and Texas Tech during this stretch, though they topped that with Monday’s win over previously unbeaten Arizona. That impressive showing from Kansas came without star freshman Darryn Peterson, whose availability is still in question for this weekend’s tilt.

With a few exceptions, the work out of Iowa State (21-3) has been just as impressive, though there are times when these Cyclones have left us scratching our heads. Their work on the road has been a real head scratcher, including a 21-point loss at Kansas a month ago. Most recently, Iowa State had built the momentum back with a five game winning streak before a terrible showing this week, falling at TCU thanks to a really bad offensive performance.

First and foremost, Iowa State is a different animal on their home court and you know they’ll be motivated after what happened in January against these Jayhawks. There’s the question of if Peterson will play after a brilliant showing last month against the Cyclones. After knocking off the top team in the land, Kansas has shown they can survive without their star, but they’ll need consistent offense against a strong Iowa State defense. Unlike in the first matchup, these Cyclones need more fluidity on offense. Someone like Momcilovic or Jefferson really needs to take charge if they want to grab this Top 10 win.

Already on an impressive hot streak, does Kansas keep that magic going with another fantastic showing against the Cyclones? Does Iowa State find a way to shake off that recent stinker and get back into the win column in a major way against one of the nation’s hottest teams?
