The basketball seems never-ending this week at the Players Era Festival and this Tuesday matchup is a real treat. A rematch from last season’s Sweet Sixteen sees Michigan and Auburn with much different rosters but the same level of talent and expectation not just for this season but for this even in Las Vegas.
The start to the season for Michigan (5-0) had a few bumps with close games against Wake Forest and TCU, but the Wolverines took no prisoners in their opening game of this event. A 40-point win over San Diego State demonstrated the Wolverines’ talent and potential on both sides of the ball, proving their a Top 10 team while showing that they might be the most talented in this field.
On the other side, Auburn (5-1) has spent the last few weeks making up for a tough start to the season, but Steven Pearl’s first year at the helm hasn’t gone off the rails yet. The lone blemish for the Tigers was a 1-point loss to Houston and this team just scored a double-digit victory over a solid Oregon group on Monday. Continuing their strong offensive play is a must to win more games in this event.

If the Michigan team that slaughtered the Aztecs shows up again, Auburn is in for a long night. The Tigers have made headway with their interior offense, though the long-range shooting has been streaky. Additionally, they haven’t exactly been facing the type of frontcourts that Michigan poses, with 7-footer Mara and other talent looming. Anything can certainly happen in Las Vegas with all this talent on the court.
Does Michigan continue their roll and potentially get themselves into the title fight in the Players Era Festival? Can the Tigers produce enough offense and find ways to limit a strong and explosive Wolverines team on Tuesday night?
