No matter what you think of the event as a whole, the Players Era Festival brought some really great teams together and two of them will face off on Wednesday night with one millions dollar on the line. After brilliant work earlier in the week, Michigan and Gonzaga each get that opportunity in Las Vegas to get a third notable win and walk away with sensational NIL cash.
Last week, Michigan (6-0) had a much different feeling coming off some close calls against Wake Forest and TCU, but they’ve used this trip to Las Vegas to change the story. The Wolverines had convincing victories over San Diego State (by 40 points) and Auburn (by 30) and have stood out as the team to beat in the Players Era Festival and perhaps at a national level.
We can’t ignore Gonzaga (7-0) and what these Bulldogs have accomplished either. Even before coming to Las Vegas, the Bulldogs had some incredible performances and followed that up with double-digit wins over Alabama and Maryland. Gonzaga has won all seven of their contests by double figures, including five against power conference foes with an offense that’s playing at a very high level once again.

A November filled with great matchups and memorable performances gives us an early Thanksgiving present on Thursday night. Both Michigan and Gonzaga are playing lights out basketball and it’s going to take an incredible effort from one of these teams to get this victory. Both frontcourts have been marvelous while deep rosters have performed greatly, especially during this event. The matchups between Graham Ike and Braden Huff against the talent in Michigan’s frontcourt are must-watch television.
Does a fantastic start to the season continue for Gonzaga with their finest victory yet? Can the Wolverines put a bow on what’s been an insane week in Las Vegas by taking home that million dollar prize?
