There are just a few days left of the regular season, with time running out to get meaningful victories. But on Tuesday, several programs landed massive wins to upgrade their resumes.
Here’s a look at the biggest winners from last night.
TCU - 73-65 win over No. 10 Texas Tech
The Red Raiders have looked good without All-American forward JT Toppin in the past couple of weeks. But they’re still without him, giving TCU an opportunity to pull off the upset, which they did, led by 20 points and 12 rebounds from Xavier Edmonds. It’s a Quad 1 win and another signature victory, joining Florida and Iowa State on its resume. The Frogs have one of the shakiest resumes overall, but this win could propel them into the field.
UCLA - 72-52 win over No. 9 Nebraska
With teams such as BYU and UCF falling, UCLA got a nice win over a protected seed, Nebraska, bouncing back from a previous road loss to Minnesota. It’s another Quad 1 victory for the Bruins, one that could push them out of the 8-9 seed range, assuming they beat USC in the regular-season finale.
Georgia - 98-89 win over No. 16 Alabama
Among all of the SEC teams on the bubble, Georgia has been flying under the radar. But the lack of bad losses has kept them in the mix, with a win over Alabama on Tuesday giving them a resume-boosting win that should keep them on the right side of the bubble on Selection Sunday.
Cincinnati - 90-68 win over BYU
It’s getting harder and harder to ignore Cincy’s run as of late, having won six of the last seven games, including victories over Texas Tech and Kansas. BYU’s recent slide has taken them out of the “signature win” category, but it’s still a Quad 1 victory for the Bearcats. There’s a chance it’s ultimately too late for Cincy, but if they beat TCU on the road this weekend, we’ll need to pay attention to them in the Big 12 Tournament.
