Just about the entire backcourt rotation returns for the Spartans, led by Fears, a surefire preseason All-American candidate and favorite for Big Ten Player of the Year, now that Braden Smith of Purdue is gone. Guys like Teng, Scott, and Ward have breakout potential, while Glenn, who missed all of last season with an injury, can still be an impact transfer newcomer from the portal.
But replacing the impact of Cooper and Kohler in the frontcourt will be key. Michigan State did manage to get a center transfer in Bonke, who broke out in the American after producing little in the Big East at Providence. If Taylor, a top-30 prospect in the 2026 class, can give the team some impact production as a freshman, then the frontcourt should be just fine for the Spartans in 2026-27.
