Pittsburgh Panthers - C-
Pitt last year started off the season very strong reaching 12-2 through the first 14 games with wins over West Virginia and Ohio St. That would end up being the peak of their season as they would go 5-13 the rest of the season and finish 17-15 while falling in the first round of the ACC tournament to Notre Dame 54-55.
After the loss, Capel was looking to have a good offseason, sadly for Panthers fans, it hasn't been the best. In the transfer portal so far, they have lost both the Diaz twins and their 2 star players from last year in Jaland Lowe and Ishmael Leggett. They have received four commits in the portal, but it will be hard to recoup the losses no matter what. Those commits include Damarco Minor, a 6-0 Guard from Oregon St, Nojus Indrusaitis, a 6-5 Guard from Iowa St, Dishon Jackson, a 6-11 Center from Iowa St, and Barry Dunning Jr, a 6-6 Forward from South Alabama. Still some very solid commits could fill the roles they lost.
In the high school scene they haven't done the best getting just 3 commits, Those players being Omari Witherspoon, a 6-4 Guard from Washington, DC, Macari Moore, a 6-3 Guard from Michigan, and Kieren Mullen, a 7-0 Center from Louisiana. There is definitely potential in these players as they will more than likely be required to fill a role so they should all see playing time.
Pitts offseason has been solid but very lack luster overall. Wish we could've seen more aggression to top players in the portal but it didn't work out that way. Only time will tell how good they will be next season but you probably shouldn't have crazy high expectations.
