Wake Forest Demon Deacons - B-
Wake Forest coming into last season had some pretty lofty expectations picked to finish 3rd in the ACC only behind Duke and UNC, and was suppose to make the NCAA tournament with ease. They ended up disappointing in the regular season with some tough losses down the stretch including a lose to 12-19 NC State. They would then lose first game of the ACC tournament to the Tarheels and would decline their NIT invite to officially end their season.
This offseason was going to be rough for roster retention for Wake Forest as most of their players were on the older side. With the loses of Hunter Sallis, Cameron Hildreth, Efton Reid, Ty-Laur Johnson, Davin Cosby, and Parker Friedrichsen, the future looked dim. Luckily Steve Forbes is bringing in a very solid transfer class and a couple of high school commits as well for next year.
In the transfer portal they were able to pick up multiple players that could be key contributors next season, players like Myles Colvin, a 6-5 Forward from Purdue, Nate Calmese, a 6-2 Guard from Washington St, Mekhi Mason, a 6-5 Guard from Washington, and Cooper Schwieger, a 6-10 Forward from Valparaiso. The main highlights in that class were Cooper Schwieger, who averaged 15.8 points and 7.8 rebounds a game, and Nate Calmese, who averaged 15.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 4.4 assists a game.
Their high school class is a little underwhelming, only bringing in two 3-star commits: Isaac Carr, a 6-3 Guard from Oregon, and Jaylen Cross, a 6-4 Guard from North Carolina. With a solid transfer class and the news of Tre'von Spillers, Juke Harris, and Omaha Billiew returning next, you could expect another solid season from Wake. Maybe not as lofty of expectations as last year, but still pretty decent.
