As controversial as the firing of Coach Hubert Davis was, UNC’s replacement has as big a name as any new hire in Michael Malone, who won an NBA championship a few years ago with the Denver Nuggets. We’ll see how he does at the college game, but he does have an interesting roster to work with.
The backcourt of Brown and Avdalas should be one of the best offensive pairs in the ACC. Plus, the addition of Able helps strengthen the Tar Heels, while also weakening the rival Wolfpack. Keeping Stevenson is a quiet boost, considering that they lost Veesar to the NBA Draft.
Keita and Samodurov are highly-touted international newcomers to play at the five-spot. While it would’ve been better had they landed a proven CBB big man, this roster could have as high a ceiling as any team not named Duke.
