Guess you have to give Coach Micah Shrewsberry credit for at least keeping his son on the roster. But losing three double-digit scorers on the perimeter to the portal was a massive blow. They’ll need Roberts to be as good as possible next to Braeden, while former Patriot League POY Smith looks to bounce back after a rough year at Gonzaga.
The one bright side to Notre Dame’s offseason was Duncomb, a former Indiana big man who excelled at the Big South level and was one of the top frontcourt scorers in the portal. Interior production has been a weakness for the Irish for years, and his play could balance out the offense.
Still, it’s hard to say that this roster is better on paper than the one that won just four games in ACC Basketball play. It’s an important year for the coach, and a lot will need to go right in order for them to be competitive.
