The Panthers lost 99% of their production this offseason but managed to fill it up via the portal. It’s filled with familiar ACC Basketball faces, including Ndongo, George, Powell, and Bethea, a former five-star prospect who started his career at Miami.
There are some high ceiling players among this group, including Might, a Defensive Player of the Year in the SoCon. Sumler was a top scorer in the Big South, while Gilbert was one of the top stretch forwards at the D-II level.
In the end, Pitt did well to build its roster after such a rough year, and there should be good depth. That being said, ACC teams with Ndongo and George among their key players have barely been .500 teams. Will that change with the Panthers? A high floor but low ceiling could be the team’s future.
