Five double-digit scorers are gone for the Mustangs, with Yigitoglu the one who still has eligibility. But keeping Toombs, a clear sophomore breakout candidate in the frontcourt, mitigates that loss.
SMU had one of the top backcourts in the conference last year. There will be a big need for Brumbaugh to have a huge impact as the projected lead guard, while Stewart could be due for a big senior campaign after being a role player throughout his year at UConn.
For a program that has made big splashes in the offseason, the Mustangs didn’t do as much this time around. There should be some competent depth, but the lack of potential star power could be their undoing.
