After a strong March performance, former Syracuse star Gerry McNamara became the program's new head coach. He brought with him several key pieces from Siena, including star forward Doty. The team also got some good news with Tobiason returning from the NBA Draft process, and he’s set up to be the focal point of the offense.
But it’s not just McNamara that lacks high-major experience, as the entire portal class comes from the mid-major ranks. That includes Dual, a former top-30 prospect who struggled at Providence but played well at McNeese. If he’s the starting point guard, that adds some questions.
If returning players Anthony and White have breakout campaigns, the first-year for McNamara won’t be as rough. It’s a solid roster overall that has size, but the perimeter is shaky, especially if the scoring production doesn’t translate.
