No team has a “perfect” offseason. But Virginia came pretty close for multiple reasons. The first is that they didn’t lose a single player eligible for either the transfer portal or the NBA Draft, with De Ridder returning as one of the best bigs in the nation.
Mallory returns as the lead guard and sophomore breakout candidate, joined by Dixon, Vide, and Harmon from the portal to rebuild the perimeter depth. While they didn’t replace the shot-blocking abilities of Onyenso inside, Anya and Ibe should be fine as frontcourt depth off the bench.
Virginia was one of the most stable and effective programs in all of college basketball under Coach Tony Bennett. In just two offseasons, Coach Ryan Odom has the program back to those standards. Hence, the obvious best grade possible.
