BYU lost both Dybantsa and Saunders to the pros, as expected. And outside of Davis to the transfer portal, none of the other losses were game-changers. However, the problem with the team is who they were able to bring in via the portal.
Getting Chandler from Kentucky made sense for both sides, but he’s not much more than a solid high-major starter. Betsey has potential as a former top-50 forward prospect, while Branch is the coveted newcomer from the high school ranks as a top-10 incoming player.
Keeping Wright from leaving via the portal was the biggest piece of positive news for the Cougars. But being unable to get a big man with impact to this point greatly limits their ceiling for next season.
