Despite not making it past the Sweet 16 due to an upset loss to Iowa, it’s hard to say that any team had a better offseason than the Gators. Besides Lee, who had no more eligibility left, everyone else in the rotation made the decision to return.
That includes all three key frontcourt pieces, who all had the potential to be first-round NBA Draft picks. Chinyelu, the reigning SEC Basketball Defensive Player of the Year, could’ve left after a breakout campaign at center. Haugh and Condon could’ve easily left as well, but opted to return to the best frontcourt in the nation.
Even Klavzar, the reigning SEC 6th Man of the Year, is back. If Aberdeen needs a waiver after returning from Kentucky, then Klavzar can step in to start. With all the top pieces back from the squad that won the regular season title, it’s obvious what kind of grade the Gators get.
Grade: A++
