Continuing the run of Texas-based prospects updating their respective recruitments is Davion Adkins, a 6’8 forward from Dallas, Texas. He’s one of the top pure athletes, capable of being as good an interior defender as any 7’0 center inside, and is a high-flyer. With any developed jumper, Adkins could be viewed as a 5-star caliber CBB prospect.
There are six programs in the mix for Adkins, all with visits set up for the future. Here’s a look at how he’d fit with each of them.

Auburn Tigers
The Tigers had one of the best frontcourts in college basketball the past few years, but are reloading. They have a few newcomers with multiple years of eligibility, including Sebastian Williams-Adams and Filip Jovic. There’s a new frontcourt logjam Adkins would have to consider compared to some of the other options.
Houston Cougars
The Cougars bring back junior forward Joseph Tugler, who is the reigning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. He nearly went pro, and there’s a good chance he’s only around for one more year. There’s no depth outside of him, so Adkins would have a clear path to playing time. Plus, he’d get to stay close to home and be part of a national juggernaut.
Indiana Hoosiers
There are several options for Indiana at the four-spot, but the top three are all senior transfers, including Tucker DeVries in small-ball lineups and Sam Alexis in larger groups. There’s also North Florida transfer Josh Harris, who was a double-digit scorer as a freshman. Adkins may have to compete with Harris for minutes if he chooses that option a year from now.
Kansas Jayhawks
At the four-spot for Kansas is primarily a pair of freshmen in Samis Calderon and Bryson Tiller, a top-30 incoming prospect. There’s a chance that Tiller is a one-and-done candidate to the NBA, but if not, then there could be a logjam scenario for Adkins to have to consider.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights
While the team's success wasn’t there last season, both Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper still ended up as top-5 picks in the NBA Draft, giving Coach Steve Pikiell a tool to use on the recruiting trail. This is an option where Adkins would get a large role early on, and his defense fits Rutgers’ system perfectly.
UCLA Bruins
Another defensive system where Adkins can thrive is UCLA, but they’re in a much better position compared to Rutgers. The team has guys like senior Tyler Bilodeau and junior Eric Dailey Jr., along with Michigan State transfer junior Xavier Booker. The Bruins may not be able to offer Adkins a ton of minutes early on, but he can develop into a future all-league guy, as we’ve seen other players under Coach Mick Cronin do.
