Who will end up being the starting point guard for North Carolina next season? That's a question that remains unanswered. Former 5-star signee Elliot Cadeau entered the transfer portal and it didn't take long for him to commit to the Michigan Wolverines.
Hubert Davis has been looking far and wide for a replacement, but top targets keep going off the board. On Sunday, San Diego State's Nick Boyd announced he'll play for Wisconsin, which was disappointing news for plenty of UNC fans.
However, the big news on Monday is that standout Baylor point guard Robert Wright has decided to enter the transfer portal. As a freshman in 2024-25, the 6-1, 185-pounder averaged 11.5 points and 4.2 assists per game. He's got a bright future ahead of him. From the moment this news dropped, countless Tar Heels supporters have been begging for Davis to go after him. You know what, this is something he absolutely must do.

If you need a point guard, you must do whatever it takes to land him. Wright averaged 11.5 pts and 4.2 assists this season.pic.twitter.com/iMvLcyZTUO
Baylor PG transfer Robert Wright would be a dream addition for North Carolina
Just last year, Wright was the No. 1 ranked point guard and a 5-star playmaker according to the 247Sports Composite. He chose to sign with Baylor over additional offers from Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Syracuse and many others.
The news of him leaving the Bears has caught plenty of people by surprise, but this just goes to show how much the transfer portal has changed college hoops. You already know several programs aren't going to waste time in reaching out to him and UNC absolutely must be on the list.
Say what you want about Cadeau and his issues turning the ball over, but he knocked down key shots for the Tar Heels and was a floor general. Replacing him in the starting lineup won't be easy, but someone of Wright's caliber would be a major addition for the Tar Heels if they can pull this off. Yes, UNC has missed out on earlier targets, but bringing in Wright would be a major get for Davis. Get on the phone, coach.
