Scott Drew

While Indiana doesn’t have recent basketball success, this is still a historically relevant program with immense backing and fan interest. They’re going to take big swings at some of the prominent coaches in this sport and that’s certainly what Drew would be if they get him on the phone. It’s important to remember that Drew turned down both Kentucky and Louisville last offseason but could Indiana be different?

Although born in Kansas City, Drew spent many years living and working in the state of Indiana. He graduated from Butler before joining his father Homer’s staff at Valparaiso for nearly a decade. After a brief stint in succeeding his father, he took on the Baylor job in 2003, inheriting a broken program in disarray. Drew led Baylor to their first national championship 18 years later and is responsible for nearly all of the success in the Bears’ tumultuous history.

Still just 54 years old, Drew has several years ahead of him in the coaching world and could dig in for quite a while in Bloomington. Obviously, if he turned down Kentucky and Louisville you have to wonder how seriously he’d consider the Hoosiers, even if he went to school nearby at Butler and has familiarity in the state. Drew is a great recruiter and person as a whole and would be a dynamic hire, though he’s another home-run name that feels like he’ll say no; but is definitely worth consideration.
