Monday night in the Big 12 delivers one of the marquee matchups of the week as the Kansas Jayhawks travel to Lubbock to face the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
Kansas enters at 16-5 overall and riding a five-game winning streak. The Jayhawks were ranked 14th in the most recent AP Top 25 and have not lost since a January 10 road defeat at West Virginia. Their latest win came at home against BYU, a night that also marked the 1,000th game played at Allen Fieldhouse.
Texas Tech is also 16-5 but is coming off a road loss at UCF, which snapped a five-game winning streak. The Red Raiders were ranked 11th prior to that trip to Orlando and now return home looking to reassert themselves in the Big 12 race.
Kansas Recent Form
Kansas put up 90 points in the win over BYU. Darryn Peterson scored 18 points in the first half before sitting much of the second half due to cramping. Tre White added 12 points, while Bryson Tiller led the team with 21 points. Overall, the Jayhawks are playing their best basketball of the season and continue to climb toward the top of the conference standings.
Following this game, Kansas returns home to host Utah on Saturday before a massive showdown with unbeaten Arizona. The Jayhawks then head back on the road to face Iowa State and Oklahoma State.
Texas Tech Recent Form
In the loss at UCF, JT Toppin posted a huge line with 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Christian Anderson added 17 points and nine assists. Prior to that setback, Texas Tech had built momentum with road wins at Colorado and home victories over Utah and BYU. The Red Raiders also knocked off Baylor on January 20 and earned a revenge win over Houston on January 24.
Up next, Texas Tech travels to West Virginia before hosting Colorado. After that comes a demanding road swing with back-to-back games at Arizona and Arizona State.

Big 12 Showdown Outlook
This sets up as a physical, high-intensity Big 12 battle. Kansas has been red hot, showing balance, scoring depth, and defensive toughness during its recent surge. A key storyline will be Darryn Peterson’s conditioning and how heavy his workload is after dealing with cramps in the BYU game.
For Texas Tech, this is a prime opportunity to respond after the loss in Orlando. The Red Raiders are traditionally strong at home and thrive in grind-it-out games. Expect a hard-nosed, competitive matchup Monday night, with conference positioning and momentum firmly on the line.
