Pittsburgh (14-10) (NET: 51)
1-8 (Q1), 3-1 (Q2), 5-1 (Q3), 5-0 (Q4)
The great start that Pittsburgh had to this season has been somewhat dulled by their recent play though there’s still time for the Panthers to get themselves into the Tournament field. This team was 12-2 at one point this season though clearly things have gone south in recent weeks.
Those individual splits aren’t great, though the lone Quad 1 win was a nice performance at Ohio State that came way back in late November. A 24-point home win over rival West Virginia also looks great even if it’s just Quad 2, alongside a late January victory over North Carolina.
Recently, Pittsburgh picked up a rough anchor on the resume with a 16-point Quad 3 home loss to Virginia. They also blew a very winnable game at Florida State and simply haven’t taken advantage of opportunities especially in ACC play with those eight Quad 1 defeats.
The Panthers have won just two of their last 10 games and simply must get back into the winning column in the weeks ahead. An early March road game at Louisville is their only remaining Quad 1 game, meaning Pittsburgh needs to win nearly all of their contests to remain in this conversation.
