After a huge bounce back season under first-year head coach Pat Kelsey this past campaign for 2024-25, the Louisville basketball program is looking to build on an ACC Championship Game appearance from last spring.

Louisville was not only in contention for an ACC Championship this past season in the 2024-25 campaign, but it also made the NCAA Tournament as an eight-seed in the South Region. It was the first time in over half a decade that the Cardinals made the NCAA Tournament (since 2019).

Koren Johnson, G

Former four-star combo guard recruit from Seattle (WA) Garfield High School, junior Koren Johnson, was one of the first transfer departures for Louisville in the spring portal window early this offseason. Johnson spent one season at Louisville in the 2024-25 campaign after transferring from the Washington Huskies last offseason.

Johnson committed to the Ole Miss Rebels as his third school in as many years via the spring transfer portal window.

James Scott, C

Possibly the most surprising portal entrant for the Cardinals and Kelsey in the spring transfer window, sophomore big man James Scott became Louisville's only frontcourt starter to leave the program early this offseason. Scott averaged 7.1 points per game, 6.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists, one steal, and one block over 31 starts for the Cardinals this past season in the ACC.

Scott joins Johnson as the two Louisville transfers with at least some level of starting experience to transfer from the Cardinals in the ACC to join head coach Chris Beard and Ole Miss in the SEC ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 season.

Cole Sherman, G

Louisville, KY, native and former Northern Kentucky transfer junior guard Cole Sherman entered the spring transfer portal window after spending one season with the Cardinals and Kelsey in the ACC. Sherman played sparingly off the bench this past regular season for the Cardinals, averaging 0.3 points per game and 0.1 rebounds in 10 games played off the bench.

Patrick Antonelli, G

Former grad transfer senior guard from Emory and Henry in Division II, South Carolina native Patrick Antonelli, put his name in the spring portal early this offseason after spending one season playing for the Cardinals in the ACC. Antonelli appeared in nine games for Kelsey and the Cardinals this past season, averaging 0.3 points per game.
