Currently, many college basketball teams are looking to add another piece, thanks to ongoing lawsuits by the high school class of 2022 seeking eligibility. As a result, a number of teams are looking to add one more piece to their respective rosters for the 2026-27 season.Â
One of those teams is Kentucky Basketball, the program with the most high-profile recruitments throughout the offseason. And after missing out on top international wing prospect Nikola Kusturica to UCLA a month ago, they have the chance to land someone else, this time with plenty of D-I experience.
Among those in the various 5-for-5 lawsuits are several seniors who have been linked to Kentucky over the past couple of weeks. Based on various reports, there are currently three players in the mix for the final spot.
Which of them makes the most sense to fill out the roster? Here’s a ranking of the top three.
1. Mark Mitchell
2025-26 stats (Missouri): 18.3 ppg, 5.2 rpg, and 3.6 apg
Mitchell started 133 games in four years between Duke and Missouri. After a smaller role at Duke, the former five-star prospect became a two-time All-SEC player, leading the Tigers in scoring this past season. He shot a career-high 55% from the field and had back-to-back 32-point games at the end of the year against Arkansas and Kentucky. Mitchell would be the best player with the Wildcats if he were to join them and fill that need at the four-spot nicely.Â
2. Jaxon Kohler
2025-26 stats (Michigan State): 12.5 ppg and 8.9 rpg
Another big man coming off a career-high campaign, Kohler expanded his range, shooting 39% from three-point range on 4.3 attempts. The 6’9 forward had 12 double-doubles and several 20+ point games, along with ranking 3rd in the Big Ten in rebounding. He’d give the Wildcats a needed boost on the boards, and paired with Milan Momcilovic from Iowa State, there would be plenty of spacing on the offense.
3. Keyshawn Hall
2025-26 stats (Auburn): 19.3 ppg and 7.1 rpg
Including his time at UCF and George Mason, Hall has led three different teams in scoring throughout his college career. The 6’7 versatile forward can create his own offense and has had many prolific individual outings. That includes back-to-back 32-point games against Arkansas and Texas A&M. Hall is a proven SEC leading scorer, but he also needs plenty of usage, which could impact the play of the rest of the roster. Kentucky Basketball would be bigger up front with both Mitchell and Kohler, and on defense, Hall has his concerns. The Wildcats would benefit from any of the three, but Mitchell should be the priority target.
