Marquette Basketball: 2024-25 season preview for the Golden Eagles
By Joey Loose
Key Reserves
Guard – Tre Norman (Sophomore)
The Golden Eagles brought Norman along slowly in his freshman season, but he figures to gain additional changes with a year of college ball under his belt. He appeared in most of Marquette’s games, averaging 2.0 points and 1.2 rebounds per outing. He’s a tough, strong guard who can be a force in this system, though his outside shot certainly still needs improvement.
Guard – Zaide Lowery (Sophomore)
Another sophomore with limited chances last season, Lowery is a 6’5 wing who should also slide up the depth chart this season. His freshman action was limited, putting up just 1.6 points and 1.4 rebounds a game, but he projects as an athletic shooter who can develop into a significant weapon in the coming years.
Forward – Damarius Owens (Freshman)
Marquette’s highest rated addition, Owens is a 6’7 forward from Ohio who could carve out instant minutes as a freshman. Owens is an athletic specimen with great defensive ability and basketball IQ. He likely won’t breakout as a freshman, but could become a very reliable backup this season, potentially as a shot blocker and rim protector.
Forward – Royce Parham (Freshman)
Actually a former teammate of Owens, Parham is another Top 100 recruit who comes from Ohio. He has solid size yet can play all over the court, even possessing a solid outside shot. He certainly has a path to decent playing time if he can handle the adjustment to the college game while also bulking up a bit.
Forward – Al Amadou (Sophomore)
Last year didn’t show us much about Amadou, but the Golden Eagles are hoping that initial season has helped him develop. He averaged just 1.2 points and 0.4 rebounds and barely saw the court, appearing in just 14 games last season. Amadou now moves up the depth chart as one of the initial backups in the frontcourt with great potential as an interior scorer.
Guard – Sean Jones (Junior)
By far the most experienced member of Marquette’s bench, Jones is just a junior and himself hasn’t had a ton of chances to this point in his career. He was on the rise as a sophomore before tearing his ACL in January, averaging 5.8 points and 2.0 assists across 16 games. If he’s healthy, expect Jones to emerge as the premier backcourt option on the bench, capable of playing both the 1 and the 2.
Forward – Caedin Hamilton (Freshman)
Hamilton came to Marquette last season, but the 6’9 forward from California ended up taking a redshirt year. He’s got great size and potential, but sat out last season to focus on developing himself and his game. He’ll now have a chance to secure minutes for the Golden Eagles under the rim, with decent potential as a rebounder and shot blocker.
