Schedule Outlook

While the early weeks of the schedule don’t pose major difficulty, the Golden Eagles begin at home with the Marquette Challenge. They’ll host Stony Brook, George Mason, and Central Michigan for a mini-tournament in Milwaukee and should gather three easy wins to open the season.

Things get a little trickier from that point, starting with a road test at Maryland on November 15th. Four days later, the Golden Eagles will host Purdue for another exciting nonconference matchup before heading to the Bahamas later that weekend. They’ll compete against Georgia on November 23rd in a single game at Atlantis before heading back to the states.

After a couple more mid-major games at home the Golden Eagles face a significant test at Iowa State, playing the Cyclones on December 4th as part of the Big East/Big 12 Battle. Just three days later they’ll face their in-state rivals Wisconsin, with this game coming at home. The final nonconference game is another tricky one, as Marquette heads on the road to take on a feisty Dayton squad.

Big East play is a full-on war, as the Golden Eagles play each of their conference opponents both home and on the road. That quest starts December 18th at home against Butler and features a pair of road games before New Year’s. Many fans will circle the games against UConn, though they’ll have to wait, as the Huskies come to Milwaukee on February 1st before a return game in early March.

There’s a relatively winnable stretch of games in January, giving the Golden Eagles a chance for a nice run before that first date with Connecticut. February sees road tests at St. John’s, Creighton, and Villanova. The regular season finale is a home date against St. John’s.
