Marquette Basketball: 3 keys for Golden Eagles to beat Dayton on the road

Marquette is currently the best team in the Big East and is trending towards a top seed in the NCAA tournament. They have one crucial non conference game left.

The second to last Saturday before the Christmas holiday is going to be a loaded day for College Basketball, and what better place to be than one of the centers of College Basketball? The Marquette Golden Eagles play the Dayton Flyers at the University of Dayton Arena in Dayton, Ohio. Marquette will have their hands full with a good Dayton squad on their own floor. Marquette enters at 9-1 and enters at 1-1 in true road games, but this is the biggest road test for Marquette so far.

This is the last game of the regular season for the Golden Eagles as they start Big East play next week. Marquette is now the favorite to win that conference given the struggles of UConn and the injury concerns at Creighton. Head coach Shaka Smart is going to have his guys ready to play and get a huge win heading into the conference season.

The NCAA Tournament is still a few months away, and it is hard to talk about seeding with this much of the season still left, but Marquette is marching their way to a potential top seed in the NCAA tournament. A win on the road over Dayton will be a quad 1 game for the duration of the season, and it will look great when resume evaluation comes. Not many teams are going to walk into Dayton and leave with a win; the crowd will be raucous, and Dayton is very capable of beating a Big East team. Here are the three things that Marquette can do to make sure they head back to Milwaukee with a win.
