With the calendar nearing mid-May we’re likely past the big flurry of offseason excitement when it comes to the transfer portal. Big names have found their next landing spots but let’s not act like the movement is totally finished. Coaches are still busy throughout the land and that’s certainly true in Missouri, as the Tigers just landed the services of Jordan Crawford for next season.
A 6-2 guard originally out of Charlotte, Crawford has taken what’s certainly an uneven path to get to this point in his career. He was recruited to the College of Charleston by Pat Kelsey and arrived back in 2022, though he redshirted his first collegiate campaign. The following season saw him in a backup role, putting up nearly 5 points a game off the bench before entering the transfer portal for the first time.

Missouri lands South Dakota transfer Jordan Crawford
As a redshirt sophomore, Crawford put up decent numbers both as a starter and off the bench for Eastern Kentucky, but he’d need another trip into the portal to find the right place for him. This past season at South Dakota, his third collegiate home, really showed his potential as he became a starter and important weapon for the Coyotes.
Crawford put up 14.4 points and 2.9 rebounds per game while making 36% of his 3-pointers. He was named Second Team All-Summit and helped lead the Coyotes to a 4th place finish in the conference. Crawford became an efficient offensive weapon, ranking Top 5 in the Summit in made 3-pointers. A 3—point effort in a tough late January loss to North Dakota State was emblematic of what he can bring to the basketball court.
For the third straight offseason, Crawford is in the transfer portal and betting on himself in a major way. His contributions were decent at his first two schools but he really transformed into a solid shooter and great contributor in his time with these Coyotes. Even though he’s committing pretty late in the transfer process, he’s found a pretty decent landing spot in the SEC at Missouri, with Dennis Gates and company glad to add another experienced shooter into the fold.
Crawford is far from the highlight of a Missouri transfer class that now includes at least five players, including high-major standouts Jaylen Carey from Tennessee, Jamier Jones from Providence, and Bryson Tiller from rival Kansas. However, he becomes a key in the backcourt alongside those talented forwards, joining BYU’s Kennard Davis in what should be a notable role for the Tigers. With the changes Missouri has made in recent weeks, does this team get back into an expanded NCAA Tournament next season? What exactly can we expect from Crawford against SEC foes?
