Erik Reynolds II - Saint Joseph’s Hawks
He is yet another guy who is very well known in Atlantic 10 circles because he has been one of the most consistent scorers in the country over his 4 seasons in college basketball. His numbers this year are down across the board, especially in the efficiency marks, but when the game is the biggest, Reynolds II steps up and has a huge game. He has been one of the best overall players during his time in Atlantic 10, has made the all-conference team consistently every year, and runs the offense while rarely turning the ball over. Unfortunately for the point guard, the Hawks have not been very good while he was there, and people will use that negatively against him, even though he has the numbers to say otherwise.
Simas Lukosius - Cincinnati Bearcats
There are very few guys who put up the numbers that Lukosius does, and they get no coverage and almost get forgotten by the media. It isn’t the fault of the guard, though; the Bearcats are loaded and have a ton of flashy players who are easy to cover. Do that at your own peril though because Lukosius is currently shooting about 50% from the floor, well over 40% from deep, and is averaging 3 assists and 3 rebounds per game. I say silently because of his ability to put up these numbers every night and get virtually zero publicity. It is very strange considering he plays in a huge conference, for a ranked team that he leads in scoring.
Jeremiah Fears - Oklahoma Sooners
People are slowly starting to talk about Fears more now, but it took a 30 point game a huge three in a tie game for it to happen. The freshman point guard has been the catalyst for the Sooner's undefeated start. Fears needs to be talked about in the same way that we all talk about Cooper Flagg and other star freshmen. He is averaging 18 points and doing it with 50% shooting and over 30% from deep. He is playing like the SEC freshmen of the year, and if he stays consistent, he will win it. Even if he doesn't get respect this season in the college basketball world, the guard should be a lottery pick in the upcoming NBA draft.
There you have it. These are the 15 players who are currently underrated in college basketball. They are all earning more media coverage and some may never get it. There are a lot of reasons for this but as long as these players keep doing what they are doing, they won’t be forgotten by me or by the fans of their team. Please watch these players play; they deserve respect for their contributions to the game, and most of them have been doing it for multiple years.
