2. Connecticut (4-0)
Everyone knows at this point that the last two national titles went Connecticut’s way. Even with new faces in important places this season, we’re going to need to see someone beat these Huskies before we can knock them from that high pedestal. There’s much different talent in Storrs this season, even if they’re still leaning heavily on Alex Karaban, and we’re close to seeing them in some real action.
The Huskies continued their meek start to the season with a fourth blowout of a mid-major foe this past Tuesday. They welcomed East Texas A&M to town and sent them quickly packing in an 81-46, with the best defensive performance of the season for the Huskies. All five starters played decently, with Solo Ball leading the charge with 12 points in a laugher.
Nothing on the early schedule was going to challenge the Huskies, who continue to feel out rotations and lineups for the upcoming season. Dan Hurley knows how to get the most out of his players and you bet he’s been working hard to put them in that most successful position. Those real challenges begin this week, as the Huskies head out to the Maui Invitational, with the potential for some heavy matchups ahead.
