18. Wisconsin (6-0)

Great performances from Wisconsin are not something that’s brand new this season, as this program has had its share of spotlight moments. What stood out was last week’s 15-point win over Arizona and obviously that’s the kind of performance that can jumpstart a season, significantly heightening expectations. The Badgers remain unbeaten through the third week of the season, but certainly buckled a little under that pressure.

Wisconsin hosted UTRGV on Monday night, trailed at the half, and had to hold on late for an 87-84 win over the Vaqueros. John Blackwell had 30 points and 7 rebounds in a career performance but clearly the defense underperformed. The Badgers played better on Friday, beating UCF 86-70 in their first matchup at the Greenbrier Tip-Off. Blackwell led the team again with 17 points while Nolan Winter added 13 points and 10 rebounds in a double-double performance.

No matter how bad things looked at times back on Monday, Wisconsin found a way to win, avoiding that massive letdown after the Arizona victory. They haven’t been perfect, despite the 6-0 record, and the Badgers still have several things to work on before league play begins. However, they’ve handled their business, been decent outside the arc, and now get another opportunity against Pittsburgh to finish off that Greenbrier Tip-Off on Sunday.
