Obvious excitement comes from sports when the games are actually being played, but the college basketball season seems to bring news every month on the calendar. Two months have already passed since Florida cut down the nets as national champions but there’s been no shortage of happenings in this sport from every corner of the country.

Dozens of teams have changed head coaches while other programs have experienced other types of personnel changes. The transfer portal has reconfigured nearly every school’s rotation for the upcoming season, while freshman and JUCO recruiting continues to be on the mind of those head coaches. Even without actual basketball or practicing there’s been a lot to know in the sport.

Things drastically change on a weekly basis, though things are starting to calm down a bit with transfers and other roster additions. Still, we’ve seen some programs and coaches really excel in rebuilding talent while others may take a step back next season based on the talent in town. How a team finished or competed last year might have no bearing next year, especially if most or all of their roster was lost to graduation or transfer.

With these things in mind, we’re taking another stab at ranking the Top 25 teams in the nation. We can’t consider these programs based on anything but their current rosters, as we won’t see them playing games that matter for another five months. However, there are quite the number of talented teams that should shine at the highest level when November comes around; let’s start running through the best of the best.
