10. Florida (9-0)
Last week, the Gators kept an unbeaten streak alive with a title at the ESPN Events Invitational, and they significantly outclassed the other teams. This Florida squad hasn’t been facing uphill battles or major opponents on a weekly basis, but they’ve taken care of their business to this point and look really good in the early goings.
That trend certainly continued this week, as the Gators hosted Virginia as part of the ACC/SEC Challenge. That Wednesday night game turned into another easy Florida win, using a strong second half to pull away for an 87-69 win over the Cavaliers. Walter Clayton Jr. looked great again with 27 points while Alijah Martin added 16 points on a night where Florida shot 52% from the floor.
The jury is still out on just how great this Florida team can and will be this season, but they’re passing the early tests with flying colors. The offense has been impactful, scoring at least 84 points in all but two of Florida’s games this season. They’ve picked up three wins over ACC opponents and will aim for another against North Carolina in a couple weeks. This team could carry that unbeaten record into SEC play, where the going gets significantly tougher.
