Now, more than a week into February, basketball is as important as ever in the world of college hoops. We’ve seen weeks of exciting action in conference play, watching as players grow up before our eyes as these teams battle for positioning. More importantly, the NCAA Tournament is now even closer, as we are just over a month away from the best postseason action in all of sports.

What we think we know about this season of college basketball seems to change on a weekly basis. A few teams have truly been dominant and proven their worth, but nearly every conference race is a battle, with surprising results seemingly happening each and every day in this sport. One night’s shocking upset or crazy underdog result leads into the next night’s epic buzzer beater or outstanding performance.

Even though this season will be over in less than two months, there’s still a lot left to discover about this season. While a few teams have been outstanding, we don’t know who will win any of the 31 conferences, nor which teams are heading to March Madness. Despite some great performances, we’re not certain which players or teams will be the names we remember for years and years to come.

We can’t figure that out quite yet, and there are still chapters left to unfold on this season, but we can take a step back and look at where we stand. This means our weekly update to our Top 25 rankings, which seems to become a more and more exhaustive process each week. Nearly every ranked team faces challenging game after game, and we’ve done our best to determine which teams standout right now. Without further ado, we’ll get right into our deep dives into the best teams in the nation a week into February.
