Nearing the end of January, we’re getting closer and closer to the best stretch of the NCAA Basketball season. We’ve already seen a few weeks of conference play, with drama aplenty among league rivals old and new, but we’re also drawing nearer to the NCAA Tournament and the beginning of March Madness.

Before we get to the postseason, there’s still plenty to think about from the basketball we’ve already seen. Each team enters the season with certain expectations and the first few months have shown us teams that have soared above those expectations and others that are really suffering or coming short. No two teams are the same, nor are their journeys to this point, and a lot truly has happened already.

We’ve watched the SEC turn into a juggernaut conference, with several Top 10 teams and ranked matchups many times a week. We’ve seen the opposite seemingly come to the ACC, as what was formerly basketball’s best conference looks far less powerful than ever before. Transfers are excelling or failing at their new spots, coaches are working hard to keep their jobs, and a myriad of storylines still have several weeks to be fully told.

The stories that are most often told are ones about the best teams in the nation and we’re telling more of those stories today with our update to the Top 25 rankings. This weekly venture has seen significant change on that weekly basis, especially with these teams playing tougher opposition during their conference schedules. It’s another week where you could certainly argue that worthy teams were left off, but let’s get right into these deep dives on the best of the best and how they currently stand.
