16. Gonzaga (12-4)

Four losses in nonconference play is far from the end of the world for the Bulldogs, as they typically play an intensely difficult schedule early on. Wins over Baylor and San Diego State are buoying a resume that will likely get plenty more victories during WCC play in the weeks ahead, though this typically high-flying Gonzaga offense has been a step or two behind in recent weeks.

They got back on track with league play beginning, starting with an 89-82 road win over Pepperdine. Khalif Battle scored 21 points in a game that was closer than expected but a win is a win. Thursday was much smoother, with an 81-50 victory against Portland, and the team got a balanced effort in that win. The weekend ended with more success, winning against Loyola Marymount in a 96-68 laugher late Saturday night. Graham Ike had 27 points and 9 rebounds while Battle scored 26 points this time.

Three wins later and Gonzaga is clearly exactly where we expected them to be with WCC play now underway. Any concerns about this team will be alleviated in the coming weeks as we see them grow more as a team, and this program has shown that they always come through in the postseason, so why should this year be different? Ike, Battle, and the rest of this talent continue their ride against San Diego and new member Washington State next week.
