2. Connecticut (3-0)

After winning a pair of national championships, the Huskies spent the offseason building another roster that has the potential for greatness. Many of the names from those last two titles have come and gone, but there are several reasons why this team remains near or at the top of the college basketball world, and we’re not just talking about Alex Karaban.

For now, the Huskies don’t really need to prove their talent, as they won a third straight home game over weak mid-major competition. That lone victory from the past week came Wednesday, as Connecticut handled Le Moyne in a 90-49 laugher in Storrs. Karaban led the charge with 17 points while talented freshman Liam McNeeley added 15 points and continues to excel in the early going.

There are no surprises with this program this season, as the early schedule has been quite unappealing. However, it’s given Dan Hurley’s new-look squad a chance to gel and figure out rotations, something that’ll certainly help against tougher opposition in the weeks ahead. The Huskies do have several tough games before Big East play, but have to wait at least one more week, as East Texas A&M is next week’s only opposition.
