It took a minute, but Michigan officially loses all three star frontcourt players from its national championship squad. Johnson was the only one who had a chance to come back, but he opted to stay in the NBA Draft as a projected top-20 pick. The team was more than prepared to replace all three, landing Thiam and Estrella, two of the best interior defenders from the transfer portal.
Even with Cason set to miss next year, the backcourt duo of Cadeau and McKenney will be great, joined by five-star McCoy. There could be some scoring concerns inside with the new group, and the spacing may not be perfect, but Coach Dusty May more than deserves the benefit of the doubt in making the new inside group work out.
