12. Houston Cougars

Likely departures

  • Kingston Flemings (16.1 ppg and 5.2 apg)
  • Emanuel Sharp (15.5 ppg and 3.0 rpg)
  • Milos Uzan (11.1 ppg and 4.0 apg)
  • Isaiah Harwell (3.6 ppg and 2.0 rpg)
  • Kalif Sakho (2.4 ppg and 2.6 rpg)

Likely returnees

  • Joseph Tugler (8.4 ppg and 5.3 rpg)
  • Mercy Miller (5.0 ppg and 1.8 rpg)
  • Chase McCarty (4.1 ppg and 2.5 rpg)

Key decisions to watch

  • Chris Cenac (9.5 ppg and 7.9 rpg)

As with many programs this offseason, Houston is set to lose its star freshman, Flemings. He’s in every mock every NBA Draft as a lottery pick, so his departure is all but assured. Houston will also be losing former five-star guard prospect Harwell after a disappointing freshman campaign.

Will the Cougars lose all three of their five-star freshmen? Cenac had a solid first year, but certainly some ups and downs this past year. He could still be a first-round pick, but returning to the team is a legit option at the moment.

The team does have top-20 center prospect Arafan Diane joining no matter what, along with four-star guard Ikenna Alozie. With former Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Tugler back and expected leaps from Miller and McCarty, Houston won’t take much of a step back next year.
