Christmas break is here, and most of the teams are going to have a long break, and many will have a week or so off. Last week was Finals week for most of the teams in the country and that made games minimal for most of the country. Finding the players of the week who have all played more than one game over the previous week was a difficult task.
I don’t usually look for themes when doing this, but there is a theme this week, and that was 40-point games. There were three of them last week. There were also a lot of near 40 point games throughout the stat lines this week. It was a good week to be a scorer. The Player of the Week this week comes from the SEC and the Summit League. The SEC receiving a Player of the Week is also becoming a theme when these are handed out.
The SEC player had a huge game against a bad team, but most guys do not put up those types of numbers all the time. The player was a transfer into the program and had a reputation for being an elite scorer but had yet to put it all together for his new team. Hopefully, this game jumpstarts him for the season.
The Summit League player had a huge game against a top 10 team in a rare Summit League home game. That should give it away if you have followed the schedule this week. The player has a reputation for having huge games and should lead the Summit League in scoring. The Players of the Week, starting with the individual from the Summit League, are below.
