NCAA Basketball: Picks for Day 13 of 2024-25 season
By Bryan Mauro
Heading into the Friday night slate we all knew it was going to be a huge night of hoops. It delivered in a big way. It was a huge night for the Big Ten. Wisconsin blew out Arizona at Kohl Center, Penn State crushed Virginia Tech, Purdue beat Alabama at Mackey Arena, and Rutgers's two freshmen shined in their blowout win over Monmouth. Michigan beat TCU, and Northwestern beat Eastern Illinois. Iowa beat Washington State, and UCLA blew out Lehigh. The league did take some losses when Maryland barely lost to Marquette, but Ohio State got blown out by Texas A&M. It was overall a great night for a deep league.
There were a lot of other notable results last night as well. Virginia beat Villanova and I am now going to say that Kyle Neptune is officially on the hot seat. Florida beat Florida State; Charleston beat FAU in double overtime. High Point beat UAB, Loyola Chicago beat Princeton, DePaul is 4-0 after a win over Duquesne, Saint Joseph’s beat Penn, and finally Pitt beat West Virginia. It was a huge night of college hoops, as we all expected.
Yesterday, I went 36-11in my picks. That brings my 12-day total to 397-102 overall . It is another big Saturday of hoops. There are not going to be nearly as many huge games as there were on Friday night but there are a lot of games. The Greenbriar River Division champion will be crowned. The Big 5 Classic games continue, and The College Hill Classic and the Rock Hill Classic continue. The Field of 68 Classic continues, and the number 1 team in the country is in action. There is a large number of games today, but nothing overly notable. There a, however, a lot of mid-major games that are going to be good to watch if you are a college basketball sicko like most of us. Minnesota and Yale are the best game of the day. Yale is capable of handing the Gophers their second loss in a row. The best mid-major game comes via Nevada and Santa Clara. Nevada should be a top team in the Mountain West, and Santa Clara will be good in the WCC. Enjoy the hoops.
