NCAA Basketball: Picks for Day 20 of the 2024-25 season
By Bryan Mauro
How have you all been enjoying Feast Week? Day 2 was better than Day 1. Let’s start again with the tournaments. In the Boardwalk Battle, UC San Diego beat James Madison. The Tritons were previously 0-6 in Holiday tournaments before advancing to the Boardwalk Battle title game. Toledo beat Jacksonville State to advance to the title game. Drake beat Florida Atlantic and Vanderbilt beat Seton Hall to advance to the Charleston Classic title game. Bradley beat Wright State, and Middle Tennessee beat South Florida to advance to the Myrtle Beach Invitational title game. Pitt beat LSU and Wisconsin beat UCF to advance to the Greenbrier Tip-Off title game.
Tennessee blew out Baylor in the Bahamas championship game. Texas beat Saint Joseph’s to win the Legends Classic. Lets move on to the other games. Nebraska led wire to wire and beat Creighton in Omaha. Ryan Kalkbrenner only took one shot in that game. Elon beat Notre Dame in South Bend. Houston blew out Hofstra, Northwestern blew out Pepperdine, Mississippi State beat SMU, and Duke beat Arizona in Tucson. The North Carolina game was too late for me to include.
Yesterday, I went 51-28 in my picks. That brings my 19 day total to 636-188 overall. There are a lot of tournaments that are taking a break for college football today. A champion will be crowned in the Boardwalk Battle, The Homewood Suites Classic, Axe ‘ Em Classic, Hall of Fame Tip-Off, Puerto Rico Clasico, Bulldog Bash, Cream City Classic, Paradise Jam, and the Akron Basketball Classic all resume today. The sport is rarely going to compete with College Football, which is why there are not many great games today. The one game that is a good game is Marquette and Georgia in the first game of the day. Marquette is coming off a huge win over Purdue and is prime for an upset. Is Georgia good enough? Cincinnati goes to Atlanta to play the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech is not as good, so the Bearcats are less likely for an upset, but that is another one to keep an eye on. Stanford going to Santa Clara has upset written all over it. James Madison and Jacksonville State will be a battle all game long. Enjoy the hoops.
