NCAA Basketball: Picks for Day 28 of the 2024-25 season
By Bryan Mauro
Bring on all the Chaos! A lot happened on Saturday, and there were a ton of upsets! Creighton got back on the board with a win over Notre Dame. San Diego State beat Houston and Oregon won the Players Era with a win over Alabama. Let’s get to the upsets. Monmouth got their first win after they beat Seton Hall. Seton Hall can’t score, and this is a result that seems inevitable for the Pirates at some point. Charleston Southern beat Miami. The Buccaneers picked up a huge win against a bad Miami team.
There were some other upsets in mid-major games. Mercyhurst beat Sacramento State, Northridge beat Montana State, and Nicholls beat Louisiana. Those are all going to be considered upsets. Cal Poly beat Stanford in Palo Alto, and Delaware beat a good Rider team in New Jersey. It was a crazy day all over the schedule.
Yesterday, I went 38-23 in my picks. That brings my 27-day total to 914-306 overall. Feast week tournaments are all but finished, and the ones that are not finished today. There are not too many big games today, and not a single ranked team plays. Picks for day 28, December 1, 2024, are below.
Long Island over Niagara
Navy over Maine
UMass over NJIT
Maryland over NJIT
Stony Brook over Norfolk State
UMass Lowell over Central Connecticut
Radford over St Francis
Fairfield over Fairleigh Dickinson
UNC Asheville over Tennessee State
Fordham over New Hampshire
Rice over Iona
Penn State over Buffalo
Kansas State over Pine Bluff
Lafayette over Binghamton
Penn over Elon
Troy over Eastern Kentucky
Minnesota over Bethune
Missouri State over Oral Roberts
Middle Tennessee over UAB
Quinnipiac over Stonehill
Boston University over Stonehill
Nebraska over North Florida
UCF over Cal Baptist
North Alabama over Wofford
Xavier over South Carolina State
Arkansas State over Hofstra
Portland over Denver
Texas Southern over Texas State
San Francisco over Mercyhurst
Tarleton State over Indiana State
As mentioned, there are not many great games on the schedule, but there are a few sneaky ones. North Florida and Nebraska have a chance to get interesting if Nebraska doesn’t make enough shots and they don’t play with energy. The Huskers may be short-handed in that one as well. Arkansas State and Hofstra is the game of the day. Those two teams are expected to finish near the top of their conference and compete for the NCAA tournament auto bid. Enjoy the Hoops.
