NCAA Basketball: Picks for Day 36 of 2024-25 season
By Bryan Mauro
I had a lot going on this weekend and had an emotional day on Saturday, so writing was not on my list of priorities on Sunday. I do apologize for missing a picks of the day article. Saturday had some big storylines. Let’s start with a good Nebraska team getting beat by 37 at Breslin Center by the hands of Michigan State. I have never seen a Nebraska team play as badly as they did on Saturday, and I expect them to bounce back in a big way in their next games. I still think the Huskers will be a middle of the pack team and a bubble team the entire season.
There were many other storylines as well. Kentucky beat Gonzaga in Overtime in Seattle; Saint Joseph’s won the Big 5 with a win over La Salle. Creighton beat UNLV after hearing that star Pop Isaacs will miss the remainder of the season. Marquette beat Wisconsin; West Georgia got their first Division 1 win after they beat Tennessee Tech. New Mexico State won the first round of the battle of New Mexico after they beat the Lobos. Sunday saw Missouri beat Kansas for their second loss in a row, and UCLA beat Oregon on a buzzer-beater.
The last time we got together was Saturday. I went 70-27 in my picks on Saturday. That brings my 35 day total to 1,104-395 overall. It was a big weekend of basketball that saw a lot of upsets. The Monday schedule is very light and does not have many games and only one game of intrigue. Picks for day 36 December 9, 2024, are below.
Indiana over Minnesota
Hofstra over Norfolk State
South Carolina State over Charleston Southern
VCU over Penn
Baylor over Abilene Christian
That is five games today, and only one may provide a little bit of intrigue. Indiana and Minnesota are the first conference game for Indiana and the second one for Minnesota. The Gophers do not appear to be very good this year and will need a good showing to gain some confidence. Indiana still has some questions, but most of those won’t likely be answered until Friday when they travel to Lincoln to play Nebraska. Enjoy the hoops.
