NCAA Basketball: Picks for Day 40 2024-25 season

Another day with less than 10 games. There is a big time game in the Big Ten and one power conference school is on upset watch. Other than that, we are all waiting for Saturday.

There were only 7 games yesterday and only one game that had significant implications for the NCAA tournament. Iowa State beat Iowa in Iowa City. I know that the Cyclones are ranked number three in the country, but they are playing and look like the top team in the country. If not for a buzzer-beater by Johni Broome in Maui, they would be undefeated and the number 1 team in the country. Virginia beat Bethune, Texas beat New Mexico State, and Virginia Tech beat North Carolina A&T.

I went 6-1 in my picks yesterday. This brings my 39-day total to 1,150-406 overall. As I mentioned, this week has been tough because many teams are in their dead week period and have finals next week. The weekend slate will pick up in a big way, but the Friday schedule is another light day. There is a Big Ten Conference game in Lincoln, but there are only 9 games total. Picks for day 40, December 12th, 2024, are below.

Merrimack over Boston University

George Washington over Army

Louisiana Tech over Georgia Southern

UTSA over North Dakota

Northern Iowa over Omaha

Nebraska over Indiana

St Thomas over Western Michigan

Weber State over Utah Tech

Colorado over South Dakota State

Another day with under 10 games and another day with not very many good games. Nebraska and Indiana is the best game of the day. That game does have the potential to get ugly. It is in Lincoln, and the Huskers were embarrassed by Michigan State. I can tell you they will not be unprepared for Indiana, and they shoot the ball so much better at home than on the road. Do not sleep on South Dakota State and Colorado. The Jackrabbits are good enough to beat Colorado. Enjoy the hoops.
