NCAA Basketball: Picks for Day 7 of the 2024-25 season
By Bryan Mauro
What a Saturday of hoops! Did you all enjoy that? I sure did. There were great games all day long, highlighted by the gem of Auburn beating Houston. That game will be one of the best games of the entire season, and it comes one full day after the instant classic of North Carolina and Kansas. Tennessee beat Louisville, and Baylor got on the board with a win against Arkansas. St. John’s beat Quinnipiac, Kentucky beat Bucknell, Arizona crushed Old Dominion, Georgetown beat Fairfield, and Kansas State beat Cleveland State.
Not all power five schools had easy games. Nebraska struggled from the opening tip and beat Bethune Cookman by 5, Seton Hall lost to Fordham at home, Minnesota barely beat Omaha, Florida State struggled against Rice, Northwestern lost to Dayton, and Washington lost to Nevada. Dayton and Nevada are likely both tournament teams but still those losses are notable. Some other upsets today were Marist beating Richmond, VMI beating Bellarmine, Norfolk State beating James Madison, and Merrimack blowing out Vermont.
Yesterday I went 39-14 in my picks. That brings my 6 day total to 231-54 overall. There is another big day of basketball today with the Rainbow Classic continuing, and the Peach State Classic beginning. There are a lot of good mid major games and some great games between Power 5 schools. Picks for day 7 November 10, 2024 are below.
Indiana over Eastern Illinois
Wisconsin over Appalachian State
Vanderbilt over SEMO
Detroit Mercy over Niagara
Georgia Tech over North Florida
Wake Forest over Michigan
Stephen F. Austin over Drake
Campbell over St. Francis PA
Harvard over American
Brown over Maine
Princeton over Northeastern
UC Irvine over Northern Iowa
Miami over Binghamton
Oklahoma State over St. Thomas
UAB over Southeastern Louisiana
Georgia over Texas Southern
Wyoming over Tennessee State
Gonzaga over Arizona State
Creighton over Fairleigh Dickinson
LSU over Alabama State
Hawaii over San Jose State
There are two great games on the schedule tomorrow starting with Michigan and Wake Forest. Michigan has a new coach and a new roster now. They looked impressive in their opener, but Wake Forest has a lot of their roster returning from last year, and they want to make the tournament.
Gonzaga and Arizona State will be a great game because of the two storied programs, but the Bulldogs may win that one going away. The Sun Devils have not been that impressive this year to date. Georgia Tech is on upset watch. The best mid-major game is between UC Irvine and Northern Iowa. Two contrasting styles in that game. Enjoy the hoops.
