Nearly five months have passed since Florida cut down the nets as national champions for the third time in program history. What has followed these last few months has been another manic and chaotic offseason in the sport of college basketball. There never seems to be a dull moment in a sport so recently characterized by movement and insanity from both NIL and the transfer portal, with their impact certainly felt.
Long past are the days where you could expect a player to spend four years at the same school, as now it’s become far more commonplace for someone to land at four different schools during their playing career. These last few months have seen hundreds, if not thousands of college basketball players find new homes for the upcoming season, but those large scale changes aren’t the only ones in this sport.
Recent stars are off to the NBA or have graduated while several major coaching changes grabbed headlines as well. Extended rosters and coaching staffs have basically been worked out and we’re sitting just two months shy of the start of another season, meaning it’s certainly time to consider the upcoming year. Much of the sports attention is on college football, which just had its first full weekend of games, but it’s a perfect time to look ahead to what we’ll see on the court come November.
Without any games yet played and rotations not yet perfected, it’s impossible to give a perfect look at this next season. Some predictions made even by the best experts will be proven wrong as they are each and every season. Regardless, we’re giving our best shot at updating our Top 25 rankings based on where these teams stand with the talent they’ve accumulated for the 2025-26 season. We’ll get right into the rankings, noting that things could still change in the two months before the games actually begin.
