25. Wisconsin
A relative return to form last season saw the Badgers grabbing a 3-seed in the NCAA Tournament after very solid work in the Big Ten. While their postseason dreams were cut short in the second round by BYU, Wisconsin had a really solid season spearheaded by All-American John Tonje. A breakout star for the Badgers, Tonje wasn’t the only major playmaker in Madison and that’s why despite his departure we still have our eyes on this program.
John Blackwell and Nolan Winter are back as juniors and should be major playmakers this season now as upperclassmen. The Badgers landed a really solid piece in Nick Boyd from the transfer portal, a player who put up great numbers at both Florida Atlantic and San Diego State and can be impactful right away in the Big Ten. Fellow addition Andrew Rohde should see significant run for the Badgers as well as they hope to compete in a strong conference race once again.
When last season began, nobody quite knew exactly what Tonje would bring to Wisconsin and fewer expected such an All-American-type surge from the talented guard. We’re not saying Blackwell is going to have that kind of a surge, but don’t be shocked to see him take another step forward as a junior after averaging nearly 16 points per game last season. All in all the Badgers are in pretty solid shape and could legitimately win the Big Ten if Blackwell comes through.
